noreligion I do like a good conspiracy story, I think they communicate with a deep questioning part of our humanity, especially when it comes to politicians! You only need look at the sales of “The Da Vinci Code” to see how popular conspiracy stories are.

I’ve recently been looking at a lot of conspiracy websites, especially about 9/11 (that seems to be the most popular subject) and I have a great exercise for you:

First, watch this film:

It’s called “Loose Change 2nd Edition” and its a really rather well-made film which outlines some of the most popular conspiracy theories concerning the events of 9/11 in the USA. The Film-makers say

This film shows direct
connection between the attacks of September 11, 2001 and the United States government.
Evidence is derived from news footage, scientific fact, and most important, Americans
who suffered through that tragic day.”

After you’re done with that, have a look at this: http://www.loosechangeguide.com/LooseChangeGuide.html

Which is a review of the film by Mark Roberts, debunking, well, pretty much everything in the film. Its well worth a read, for sarcasm value alone.

Mark says:

“I put this document together for several reasons:
1. To promote understanding of the facts about the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and to discourage relying on rumor and conjecture when searching for the “truth.”
2. Because I believe that “Loose Change” is an influential introduction for many people to 9/11 conspiracy issues.
3. To encourage respect for the victims, living and dead, of the 9/11 attacks.”

This whole exercise will probably take around 3-4 hours, so set yourself aside some time and have a ‘conspiracy night in’.

If you haven’t got time right now, save this page into your favourites and come back to it.
